Mushroom sauce spiral and cheese

When I chanced upon other food blogs that expounded with recipes for Mac and Cheese, I was drew in by the outrageousness of cheese.
I'd attempted fast and easy cheese baked rice but not for baked pasta.

I simply love cheese!

Most of the recipe for Mac and cheese basically asked for milk, cheese, flour, salt and pepper ( for seasoning), I find it too plain, as my family adore heavier taste.

This struck an idea for me to come up with something new!
Rummaging the kitchen cupboard, I found a can of button mushroom and this was just oppotune and this led to my own creation of mushroom sauce spiral and cheese.

Why spiral? Cos I was attracted by '2 packets of pasta for $2.75' promotion, and there was no macaroni left on the shelves.
Anyway, the shape of pasta doesn't matter that much.

Recipe:

Mushroom sauce:

  • 2 red onions
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 1 can button mushroom
  • 2 tbsp plain flour
  • 1 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 can of evaporated milk + 2 tbsp whipping cream (for richer taste)
  • 3 slices of cheddar cheese
  • 2 tsp salt and pinch of pepper

  1. Cut onions into small cubes and slice the button mushroom.
  2. Melt butter in a pot, and stir-fry onion till fragrant.
  3. Coat button mushroom with 2 tbsp plain flour evenly.
  4. Add in flour-coated mushroom into the pot with the onions and stir-fry continuously.
  5. Pour in water and let the mixture broiled under low heat for 20mins.
  6. Mix in evaporated milk and whipping cream to the mushroom stock.
  7. Add in 3 slices of cheddar cheese.
  8. Lastly, add salt and pepper to taste.
Coat button mushroom with plain flour
Mushroom stock
Pour in evaporated milk into the stock and stir well.
Thick and creamy mushroom sauce
Divvy mushroom sauce to cooked pasta and sprinkle with dried parsley and basil.

Add pan-fried sausage and bacons on top of the sauce.
Sprinkle grated mozarella cheese and top up with bread crumbs.
Bake the pasta for 15-20mins at 170C.

Elated to see how expeditious my brothers gobbled up their dinner!
