Strawberry log cake disaster=Strawberry layer cake

My younger brother, Edmund decided to give her girlfriend a birthday surprise by baking her a strawberry log cake.

Since he doesn't have any knowledge in baking, he asked me to help him out.

Initially, he wanted to bake a strawberry log cake, but the cake came out to be too thick to roll. To avoid the risk of destroying the cake, we decided to make it into a layer cake but still working on strawberry flavour since his GF likes it.

5 yolks and 1 whole egg. Beat till pale and fluffy. Add in sugar and continue to beat till thick and creamy.

Guess who's hands?

Self-addressed 'yan-dao'

Sift dry ingredients containing cake flour, salt and baking powder into the egg mixture

Fold in dry ingredients with egg mixture

Water+oil+vanilla essence. If preferred, add in strawberry essence.

Add in water-oil mixture into the flour-egg mixture

Smooth mixture :D

Spread batter on a jelly-roll pan. Send into the oven for baking!

A super thick cake that marks our log cake a failure!

Man who takes his work seriously is attractive. Can you see that?

Whipping cream is definitely not a calefare in essentials of baking.

Add confectioner's sugar into the cream when it's beaten till soft peaks.

Spread whipped cream on the cooked surface of cake

Decorate it with generous amount of fresh and sweet strawberries. :) We salvage the situation of that super thick cake by cutting it into 3 equal portions after spreading the cream and stack them up into layers. Intelligent** :P

End product! Look gorgeous right?

It deserves more different angle shot >.<

Edmund satistied with his 'first time'.  No wrong idea given, it's 'first time' in baking!

I purchased that cake box at Daiso- $2, super cheap but quality sucks. Just hope that the cake will not fall out. Opps*

Something random:

I highly recommend this brand of curry cube! It's super DELICIOUS* and it taste exactly like the ones served outside. Thumbs up!

I'd bought a 12 serving box of curry and cooked it  for my big family. Generous amount of main lead- chickens with supporting roles- carrots and potatoes.

They simply LOVES it <3!
